Bill Allan

At Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 William Hugh “Bill” Allan of Glencoe passed away in his 72nd year.  Beloved husband of Sue (nee Taylor) and dear father of Jackie and her husband Spencer Donald.  Loving grandfather of Brooks and Andie, the two joys of his life.  Dear brother of Jan Allan and Bruce Allan (Lynne).  Also survived by his mother-in-law Joyce Aitken and brother-in-law Mike Taylor (Sharon).  Uncle Bill will be missed by his nieces and nephews and their families; Sean (Chantal), Jenny (Mike), Kelsey (Julian), Josh and Jacob. Predeceased by his parents Hugh and Reta Allan.  Bill was retired from Dow Chemical where he worked for thirty-five years.  He was proud of the Glencoe community where he lived all his life and was actively involved for many years with Minor Hockey, the Glencoe and District Curling Club, Glencoe Legion, CERV Middlesex and enjoyed the game of golf.  Bill was someone who never sat still for long — always busy doing something, whether it was helping at a local event, lending a hand, or simply checking in on others.  He found joy in being useful, in being present, and in being involved.  To his family, he was a steady hand and a loving heart. To friends and strangers alike, he was a friendly face you could always count on and had a natural gift for making people feel welcomed and at home.   A private family service will be held at the Van Heck Funeral Home, Glencoe with interment at Oakland Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the Glencoe Agricultural Hall, 268 Currie Street, Glencoe on Sunday, July 27 from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. with a Legion Service at 2:30.  Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, laughter and raise a glass of Molson Canadian – his favourite – to toast a life well-lived and a spirit that will never be forgotten.  Memorial donations may be made to Four Counties Health Services Foundation or Glencoe Presbyterian Church.  The Allan family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Lavasova, Dr. Wang, Dr. Bean and Dr. Gunn and all the nursing staff on 2 South at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion.
