Carl DeSchutter

Sadly, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, with his family by his side, Carl Louis DeSchutter of Kettle Point passed away after a sudden, overwhelming, and ongoing health battle. Carl is forever loved by his wife Carrie (Fraleigh), and his children Brittany (Dan) and Travis, and his stepchildren Kevin (Lorrinda), and Carleigh (Shawn). Loving Grandpa to Logan and Emma, and Grumpa to Jack and Anna. He was a very special uncle to Melanie (Paul). Carl is survived by his siblings Gilbert (Bonnie), Ted, and Gloria (Garry) and mother-in-law MariLynn. Carl is predeceased by his parents Joe and Margaret, his brother and sister-in-law Marcel and Donna, and father-in-law Jack. Carl will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A dedicated fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays, Carl loved nothing more than sharing his passion for sports with his son, Travis. As an avid hunter and dedicated outdoorsman, he found greatest peace while hunting with his brother Gilbert. He was a true friend to all who shared the camp. Carl was passionate about the Ontario fall fair industry. Having spent decades being involved with the Forest Agricultural Society, he expanded his involvement to district and provincial levels. He became the first sole President of the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) in 2011 and continued to advocate for Ontario fairs since. In 2025, he was honoured to be the inaugural inductee of the OAAS Hall of Fame. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, November 15, 2026, from 1:00pm – 4:00pm (Words of Remembrance at 1:15) at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #176, 58 Albert Street, Forest, Ontario. Donations may be made as a tribute to Carl’s life to the Forest Agricultural Society.
