At home in Wardsville, on Monday, June 15, 2026, Norman Leblanc, affectionately known to his loved ones as “Normie”, passed away at the age of 69. Survived by his dear partner, Rilla and her family. Beloved father to Paige, Alexander and Rachèle. Grandfather to Jessy and Émilie. Son of Fay and Roleigh. Brother to Wilfred, Heather and Holly and stepbrother to Gaylene, Kelly and Michael. He will be missed by nieces and nephews: Melissa, Steven, Crystal, Chad, Cody and Davis. Deeply missed by close friends Steve, Terry and Ross and of course, his little dog Buddy. Loved caretaker to the late Chumbly.
Norm spent most of his life in Ottawa and was on his own from the young age of 14. He first supported himself by working as a line cook at a little diner in the south end of Ottawa and soon was a bartender in downtown bars. His journey later took him to Sturgeon Falls, where he spent several years and eventually made his way back to Ottawa. In his later years, Norm landed in the Chatham area with his beloved Rilla. Together, they enjoyed the companionship, laughter, and simple pleasures that made those years so special. Norm enjoyed the little things and the company of those around him. He spent most of his career working as “Norm The Butcher”, developing a deep appreciation for quality food and craftsmanship. Norm even had a regular radio segment on CHEZ 106 (Ottawa) as the resident meat expert. This passion naturally extended to his love of smoking meat, a skill he took great pride in perfecting. He found immense joy in creating delicious meals and sharing his culinary creations with family and friends, bringing people together and creating lasting memories. He ended his working years with Canada Post as a Mail Carrier, which he enjoyed very much. Norm loved playing billiards at pool halls in Ottawa and sharing his passion for music as a bass player in a basement band with Steve. Norm had a deep love of fishing in the summer and ice fishing in the winter, with many photographs of his fishing adventures to remember him by.
Normie was a friend to many and always had a kind heart for those he cared about. He will be deeply missed by many friends and family. Following Norman’s wishes, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Southwest Middlesex Animal Shelter on his behalf.
