Rev. Jo-Anne Symington

November 14, 1963 – May 17, 2026

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, Rev. Jo-Anne (Nichols) Symington was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Jo-Anne is survived by her daughter Hannah. She is predeceased by her husband Wayne (2010) and her son Nathan (2018), her parents, Phyllis (2006) and Orland (2017), and brother Wayne (2024).

She will be fondly remembered by her brothers Bill (Tammy), and Tim (Corry), her many nieces and nephews, and friends that she has made inside and outside the church.

Jo-Anne served God as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in The Presbyterian Church in Canada since she was ordained on June 26, 1990. Visitation will be held at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe on Thursday, May 21 from 5-8 p.m. The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday at 11 a.m at the Brooke Alvinston Community Centre Complex, Alvinston, officiated by Mr. Dan Oatman, Father Dan Vere, and Rev. Dick Eric van Dorsten. Jo-Anne loved to travel and was so proud of having visited every province and territory in Canada. She will be missed immensely by so many. The family would like to thank the staff at Sprucedale Care Centre for their care of mom in her final six months. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Life’s Seasons, the Pediatric Critical Care Unit at LHSC, or the Alzheimer’s Society Sarnia Lambton.
