Jack Morrison “The Barber”

The clippers have fallen silent at Jack’s barbershop.  Robert John Morrison, a beloved fixture of Wardsville and trusted barber to generations, passed away peacefully on October 26th, 2025 at the age of 76 at Four Counties Health Services, Newbury. Jack is survived by this loving wife Sheila (nee Loney) Morrison.  Dear father of Rob (Jennie) Morrison and Garret (Jill) Morrison.  Beloved grandfather to Abby, Casey, RJ, Ali and Lucy, who will forever remember his loving stories, kindness and beautiful smile.  Jack will also be greatly missed by his extended family.

Born on November 26th, 1948, in Caradoc Twp., Jack discovered a passion for barbering early on and turned it into a lifelong career that touched countless lives. For 60 years, Jack kept the men of Rodney, Wardsville and surrounding areas looking sharp, swapping stories and solving world problems one haircut at a time.  His shop wasn’t just a place for a trim – it was where friendships were built, laughs were shared and a few tall tales were told. When he wasn’t behind the chair, you could find Jack sitting on his porch with a cold drink in hand, keeping a watchful eye on his freshly cut lawn, because the grass never cuts itself, and no one in town did straighter lines than he did, in hair and in yards. Jack loved his community deeply, and his easygoing nature made everyone feel welcome, whether you came for a haircut or just to hear the latest story.  He had a knack for remembering everyone’s name and favourite drink, and somehow, he always knew when someone needed a laugh.

A private funeral for family will be held at Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe, Ontario.  A celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 at the Newbury Legion, 22 Durham Street, Newbury, Ontario from 1-4pm.  Friends, family, neighbours and anyone who ever sat in his chair are welcome to stop by, share a memory, and raise a glass to a good man who made small town life a little brighter. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team of doctors and nurses at Four Counties Health Services for their exceptional care and compassion with Jack. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice in Jack’s memory.
