At Sprucedale Care Centre, Strathroy on Friday, February 22, 2019, Petronella Maria “Nellie” Minnema formerly of Glencoe passed away in her 100th year. Predeceased by her husband Bonte (1985). Dear mother of Rein Minnema (Femma) of Glencoe, Marijke Tolboom (Jules) of Holland, Betty Karayacoubian (late Sam) of Sarnia, Coby Minnema of Holland, Herman (Kathy) of Dutton, Sikke (Linda) of Holland, Nellie Minnema (Barry Kirkman) of England and Nico (Doortje) of Holland. “Beppe Nellie” was loved by her 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law Annette Schumacher. Predeceased by son John (1998), grandson Stephan and 2 infant granddaughters. Nellie was the last of her 11 siblings Nellie was a member of CWL at St. Charles Garnier Church for almost 4 decades. She loved gardening, talking about her life experiences, and entertaining family and friends. Her passions were biking until she was in her late 80’s, knitting & sewing, playing Rummy Q, bingo, and cards with friends and grandchildren. In the last year while at Sprucedale Nursing Home she discovered painting, leaving nine portraits to pass on. Relatives and friends will be received at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles Church, 244 Stella Street, Glencoe on Friday March 1 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Robert Weaver celebrant. Interment All Saints Cemetery, Strathroy.
