Suddenly at her home in Glencoe on Wednesday September 2, 2026 , Mary Riet Veel Huysmans passed away in her 80th year. Loving wife to Gerry. Dear mother to Lisa (Darin) Kulich, Richart Huysmans, Michele (Phil) Nagle and Aaron (Katja) Huysmans. Cherished Oma to Tyson and Marshall (Mikayla) Kulich; Skylar, Celeste, Tray (Ella) Huysmans; Tia, Broden and Kai Nagle and Caden and Conner Huysmans. She will be missed by her siblings Els (late Tom) Vandenberg, late Ben (Rita) Veel, John (Alice) Veel, Gerda Veel (Kees Vandenlinden) ,Coby (Charles) Love, Peter Veel, and Rob (Martha) Veel. Mary was a woman of deep faith throughout her life. She was an active and dedicated member of the CWL, giving generously of her time and heart to her church and community. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, a good card game, a round of golf, coffee with friends, and most of all, the time she shared with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her meaningful conversations, infectious laughter, her faith, strength and the love she gave to those around her. Visitation will be held at Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe on Monday 1 – 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles Garnier 244 Stella St. Glencoe on Tuesday, September 8th at 11:00 a.m. Private family interment to follow at North American Martyrs Cemetery, Wardsville. Memorial donations may be made to Glencoe District Lions Club or St. Charles Garnier – Catholic Women’s League.
