Peacefully at Beattie Haven Retirement Community, Wardsville, on Sunday, March 8, 2015, Leonard van der Hooft of Appin passed away in his 96th year. Predeceased by his wife Maisie (Waldron) in 2014. Dear father of Howard, Paul and the late Roger (2009) (Gail). Also survived by his brother Willie (Lori) van der Hooft and sisters-in-law Eileen van der Hooft (late Joe) and Shelagh Lynham (late George) and Edith Waldron (late Eric). Predeceased by his brother Fred, sister-in-law Pearl (late Bryn) Thomas and an infant grandson. Visitation at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes St., Glencoe on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where the Memorial Service will be held on Thursday March 12 at 1:30 p.m Rev. Amanda MacMillan officiating. Interment will be at the Appin Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Four Counties Health Services Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or Beattie Haven Retirement Community. Royal Canadian Legion service Wednesday 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
