At peace and surrounded by her loved ones at LHSC Victoria Hospital on Friday, December 5, 2014, Edna May Simpson of Glencoe, in her 92nd year. Wife and soul mate of the late Douglas Simpson. Dear Mother of Rob (Mirah), Brian (Joanna), Norm, Sheila (Stan) Hughes. Much loved sister-in-law to Ina Nelms, Dorothy and Harvey Parker, Betty Simpson, Stew Simpson and Frances McCallum. Cherished grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother to 29. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and many others who called her Aunt Bunny. Predeceased by her sister, Muriel (Ken) Thompson. Edna, or Bunny as she was known to many, was a vital community member of Glencoe and area. She volunteered at many places including Four Counties Hospital and she was a very active member of St. John’s Anglican Church. Edna was a master spinner. For many years she owned The Spinning Wheel and the driver’s license bureau having made many great friends through those ventures. Edna and Doug travelled extensively in younger years; always enthused about learning about the people and places they saw. They met many people over those years, several of who remained good friends. Edna came to Canada as a war bride having met Doug while they both worked on radar, serving in the British Air Force. In later years, she became very involved in the War Brides organization and could be seen at events singing, “Till we meet again” with fellow war brides.
