Erik Fleury

Tragically , as a result of an accident on Monday May 4th 2026, Erik Fleury passed away in his 26th year. Cherished son of Jennifer and Mike. Dear brother to Emily and step brother to Mia and Dana. Dear partner to Ashley Tavares. Nephew to Karen (Scott), Rob (Michelle), Jessica (Jeff), Jeremey (Danielle), Cindy and Joe (Holly). Grandson to Diane Leclair and step-grandson to Roger Croteau. Erik will be missed by his cousins, friends; Ashton, John Baer, Dave Jr. and the fur babies in his life.

Erik was a self-made man, who grew up faster than he should have had to.  He had the skill and tenacity to create or fix anything, and simply had no quit in his character.  His work ethic was second to none, and he was admired for this trait.  He was incredibly entrepreneurial, and dabbled in many business ventures both during and after high-school but wood working and welding were his main passions.  These passions aligned with his creative and artistic needs, as did his joy of playing bass and acoustic guitar, and his love of music.

He found joy in the simplest things – the sound of a guitar, the hum of an engine, the spark of a welder and the satisfaction of building something with his own hands. He was someone who created, fixed and explored. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made will live on in every song played, every road travelled and every project built with care and passion. Erik was known to sometimes approach things in an unconventional way, which in retrospect, was as more of a strength than a weakness.

What Erik was really known for was his incredibly virtuous heart and “old-fashioned” values.  Whether it be helping someone with their coat or staying back to hold a door open for strangers, he always exuded kindness.  He loved and adored his mother and his sister above all else.  He had the care and ability to sense tension in the room, and lighten it instantly with a joke, a funny one-liner or self-deprecating joke, simply to put everyone around him at ease. Erik lived many years in his too short life and has touched the hearts of everyone he knew with his infectious smile and good nature.

Cremation has taken place and visitation will be held at Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe on Thursday May 14th from 6 – 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Southwest Middlesex Animal Shelter.
