Ronald Schiedel

Peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, surrounded by loved ones Ronald Lloyd Schiedel passed away in his 81st year. He was born on August 17, 1943, to the late Lloyd and Idelpha Schiedel, in Appin, Ontario, the youngest brother to his sisters, Margaret, the late Ruth and infant sister Grace. Ron was the cherished husband of Diana Schiedel (Dietrich) and the beloved father of Paul Schiedel (Melissa Schiedel), Susan McIlmoyle (Dwayne McIlmoyle), Pam Schiedel, and to Diana’s sons Stephen Harris, Matthew Harris (Katie Harris). Ronald was an adored grandfather to Tyler and Jillian Schiedel, Sarah and Emily Beadle, Anthony, Julianna and Rachel Lima, Foster and Evyn McIlmoyle, and Meadow, Lincoln and Violet Harris. Ron will be missed by his nieces Bonnie and Marlene. Ron retired from a fulfilling career with Ducks Unlimited, where he combined his love of flying planes with his work. His early years saw him as a traffic pilot, and his love of flying continued throughout his life. His dedication and love for his family and children were ever-present throughout his life. Raising his family in London, Ontario, he was known as the kindest of fathers, full of laughter, and always ready with a joke. Ron was our biggest fan, coach, and the softest of souls with the kindest of hearts. His acts of kindness and care were simply part of his nature, and all who met him quickly learned what a “sweet man” he was. Ron’s quick smile, warm hugs, laughter, and words of love will be deeply missed. He will be remembered for his love of family, music, passion for flying, and eagerness to try new things. His friendships, forged through shared activities like horseback riding, curling, pickleball, singing, playing the banjo and harmonica, dancing, and countless other pastimes, will be treasured by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a private Graveside Service will be held at Appin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario or Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Ronald Lloyd Schiedel leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, forever dancing the skies.
