Unexpectedly, on Thursday November 1, 2018, after a brief hospital stay, Melvin Charles Merriam of Newbury passed away at the age of 71 years at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. Beloved husband to Marilyn (nee Vosbourgh) for 45 years. Loving father of Gwen (Bob) Bayne of Sarnia, Rhonda (Scott) Sutherland of Newbury and Shawn (Tara) Merriam of Chatham. Cherished grandpa of Lauren, Cody, Ty, Olivia and Ryan. He will be greatly missed by his precious buddy “Dusty”. Survived by his siblings, Norma, Irene, Ruth, Darlene, Bill, Jack, Dan, Joe and Stanley and many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his brother Fred and his parents Jim and Viola Merriam, his nephew Frank and his stepmother Dorothy. At Mel’s request cremation has taken place. Interment at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Guthrie Presbyterian Church, Alvinston.
