Hayter JimSuddenly on Thursday, March 16, 2017 James Edward “Jim” Hayter” of Alvinston passed away in his 71st year. Predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Mary Louise (Bindner) (March 2, 2017). Dear father of Chad and Julie Hayter and Pat and Melissa Hayter. Devoted grandfather of Sarah, Matt, Ryan, Joey, Sam, Tom, Michael and Lily. Dear brother-in-law of Francis Bindner, Mike (Connie) Bindner, Joe (Bernice) Bindner, Catherine Ann (Richard) Cadogan, and Patti (Alec) McLachlin. Jim will be fondly remembered by his nephews, nieces and many relatives and friends. Relatives and friends will be received at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 3232 River Street, Alvinston on Monday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Firemen Walk of Honour Monday evening at 7:00 p.m Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 22 at 11a.m. at the Brooke Alvinston Inwood Community Centre, Alvinston Rev. Jim Breen officiating. Interment to follow at St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Alvinston. In 1982, Jim purchased the plumbing and heating business from Arnold Douglas and today is known as The Hayter Group. He has been with the Alvinston Fire Department for 44 years having served as Fire Chief for 15 years. Jim was a charter member of the Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association and was the Ontario representative. He is the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Brooke-Alvinston and has served on council for 3 terms, charter member of the Alvinston Districts Optimist Club, Canada 150 celebrations chairperson. Jim enjoyed fishing with friends and family and was an avid supporter and fan of Minor Hockey and Baseball. With this in mind, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to “Raise the Roost Campaign – Pavilion Project” (cheques payable to Municipality of Brooke /Alvinston).
