Peacefully with family, at Watford Quality Care Centre, on Tuesday, May, 6, 2025, Alexander Neil MacKellar of Alvinston passed away in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Maxine (nee Freer). They were united in marriage November 7, 1958. Dear father of David (Annette) MacKellar and Darlene (David) Schumacher. Loved grandfather of Adam (Katie) MacKellar and their sons Michael, Conner and Duncan, Paul (Sarah) MacKellar and their children Thomas and Isla Virginia, Jacob MacKellar (Annie Kaplin), Derrick Schumacher. Also survived his sister Anna Mae Salter. Predeceased by his parents Duncan (1937) and Margaret (McPhail) MacKellar (1988). Alex was a lifelong member of Guthrie Presbyterian Church, Alvinston, honourary member of WOSTA, founding member of First Ontario Two Cylinder Club (president in 1993 and 1994). He enjoyed participating and attending local and international ploughing matches and he was very proud of his Scottish heritage. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9th from 5-7 p.m. at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe. Funeral Service Saturday, May 10 at 11 a.m. at Guthrie Presbyterian Church, Alvinston Rev. Dick Eric van Dorsten officiating. Interment to follow at the Alvinston Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Sarnia Lambton. The family acknowledges his caregivers over the years and the staff of Watford Quality Care Centre for their compassion to Alex and to his family.
