With saddened hearts but with thankfulness for a life well lived we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Catherine (McKenzie) May, formerly of Appin, Ontario, age 92 at Chesley, Ontario on Saturday, May 24, 2014. Predeceased by her husband of 65 years John (2005) daughters Donna (1983) and Betty (1960), grandson Adam May (1983), sister Irene Schroeder, brothers Robert, William, Daniel (Cecil) and Alex McKenzie. Loving mother of Thelma Engel (Robert), Audrey Hillman (Rod) and Douglas May (Susan). Supportive and caring grandmother to Andrea Robbins, Paul and Wayne Scafe, Gordon and Richard Engel, John May, Sara and Diana Hillman. Great- grandmother of Spenser and Wesley Robbins, Lauren Scafe, Tyler and Kaila Thornley, Corson and Josh Engel. Survived by sister-in-law Lois Armstrong and brother-in-law Orville Schroeder. Family and friends will be received at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes St., Glencoe for the hour prior to the funeral service to held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Mr. Jim May officiating. (Visitation 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.) Interment to follow at the Appin Cemetery. Memorial donations would be gratefully received by Appin United Church, Alzheimer’s Society or charity of your choice.
