It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Vera Olive Woods of Alvinston, ON on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Hotel Dieu Grace Palliative Care, Windsor. Predeceased by her husband Russell, of 53 years (2011) and her granddaughter Carling “Karli” (2022). Loving mother of Sandie (Dan) Older and Gord (Debbie) Woods. Adored grandmother of Jenna (Arash), Morgan (Corey), Ryan, Brittany (Ethan) and Kyle (Stevie). Loved by her great-grandchildren Erin, Toby, Emery and Stella. Loving sister of Blair (Janice) Parks and aunt to Stephen, Michael, Troy, Terri Lynn and James and also sister to Terry (Mary Lou). Dear friend of the late Don Sutherland. Also survived by her furry friend “Bee Gee” Predeceased by her parents James and Edna Parks. Vera, along with her husband Russ, operated Woods Service Station in Alvinston for 30 years. Vera was active in her community and together they worked hard to provide better lives for their family. She was a member of both the Legion and Ladies Auxiliary for over 40 years in Alvinston. Her kindness, sense of humour and laughter will be missed by her family and many friends. Visitation will be held Monday, June 23, 2025 at Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe from 6-8 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 24th at 11 a.m. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 249 will conduct a service at the funeral home Monday at 6:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to R.C.L Branch 249, Alvinston.
