Sylvia Morwood

 

Peacefully at Fiddick’s Nursing Home, Petrolia on Friday, October 12, 2012, Sylvia Beatrice (Craig) Morwood , formerly of Aberfeldy, passed away in her 96th year.  Beloved wife of the late Norman Morwood (2001).  Sylvia was born on July 28, 1917 in Euphemia Twp., the youngest daughter of the late Charles and Jean (Clark) Craig.  She is survived by 4 sons, John (Jean), Allan (Carol), Ralph (Marian) and Earl (Heather).  Loving grandmother of Kevin (Susan), Kim (Jim) Lumsden, Michelle (Tod) Carter, Todd (Crystal), Mary-Ellen (Sean O’Brien), Tracy (Grant) Hayton, Dan (Valerie), Karen, Craig (Torri) and Meghan.  Survived by great grandchildren; Michael, Cameron, Conor, Liam, Joshua, Rebecca, Elliott, Shawn, Jenna, Amelia and Avant as well as several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by infant son Clark and her brothers and sisters, Grace, Charles, Sophia, Agnes, Ella, Florence, Laura, Douglas, Henry, Allan, Howard and Blake.  Sylvia was an active member of the Ebenezer and Hope United Church and Aughrim Women’s Institute.  She also taught piano lessons for many years and achieved her piano music credentials in 1928, 1930, 1933 and 1936.  Relatives and friends will be received at the Van Heck Visitation Centre, 3232 River Street, Alvinston on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 17 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Jim Breen officiating.  Interment to follow at the Alvinston Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Multiple Myeloma Research.
