As the grossbeak was glowing in the sun on the feeders outside her window at Bettie Manor Retirement Residence, Wardsville, and the sounds of birds chirping could be heard, Mom, Mary Lu Alward, slipped away to the final legacy of a very long marriage and raising 5 sons in her 92nd year. This little woman of great strength has found her way to her husband, her mother and father, and many siblings and friends that have gone before. Predeceased by her husband, Ross Alward; her son, Timothy Ross Alward; her father, Howard Ryan; her mother, Evelyn Ryan; her sisters, Donna and Linda and her brothers George, Peter and Paul. Dear Mother to Ron (Sharon), Gary (Cathyrn), Rick (Angela), Mark (Karen). Cherished grandma to Chelsey Alward (Rhean), Ashley Alward, Bethany Mote, Josiah Alward (Mercedes) and Timothy John Archer-Alward. Mary Lu will be missed by her sister Eleanor, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mary Lu enjoyed many visits recently with nieces Sheila Hetherington-Sanders, Sharon Hetherington and Deanna Davis. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial Donations may be made to Faith Pentecostal Assembly.
