With family by his side at his home in Appin, on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, David R. Smith passed away in his 66th year. Loving husband to Anne (nee Bryant) for over 40 years. Devoted father to Mandy (Jeff) and Shawne (Crystal), and proud “Pop” to Carter, Kaley, and Olivia. Survived by his mother Marion and siblings Kym, Derek, Cari (Fred), Rob (Nancy), David (Samantha), and Michelle (Brad). Dave will be missed by many extended family, close friends, and his beloved pets Louis and Lucy. Predeceased by his father Robert and brother Jamie. Visitation will be held at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe on Saturday, May 20,2023 from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion Branch 219 Service at 12:45 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Appin Cemetery. As Dave’s career included 30 years with the Department of National Defence as well as being a professor at Fanshawe College, these are two areas he was most passionate about. Memorial donations can be made to the Southwestern Military Family Resource Centre or Fanshawe College Foundation.
