Passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health on the 19th of December, 2020 in his 90th year. Predeceased by his two sons, Philip Jones (2019), and Melvin Jones (1990). Peter is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ann Doreen Jones. He leaves behind two daughters, Heather (Hugh) Wilson and Dawn Hinnegan. Proud Grampa (Gramps) of nine grandchildren: Louise (Jeff) Baer, Joyce (Joshua) Downer, Paul (Ashley) Wilson, Dustine (Jim) Keys, Mark (Melissa) Wilson, Joshua (Stephanie) Jones, Tiffany Hinnegan, Nathan (Julianna) Jones, and Sarah Jones. Peter was also great-grandpa to twelve great grandchildren: Rebecca, Jenna, Emma, Rhys, Abbey, Zoe, Hannah, Joel, Eden, Trinity, Emma W., and Theo. He is fondly remembered by his sister Margaret Holmes, brother-in-law Charles (Celia) Cobbing, sister-in-law Glenys Richardson, and the numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Peter was a proud Welshman, born in Newport, Wales. He worked as a die casting engineer and professional draftsman. He began at the Crescent Toy Company in South Wales, UK and later emigrated to Wallaceburg, Ontario, in 1966. Over the years he was employed at Accurcast Die-casting, H. E. Vannater’s, Solus Manufacturing, and then latterly PentaCast die-casting in Strathroy. Peter was an excellent draftsman who spent hours poring over a drafting board with a flair for perfection in everything he produced. His attention to detail carried on into retirement where all his do it yourself projects, (ie basements, bathrooms, cupboards, shelving) were finished to high standards. Peter was an avid follower of Formula 1 racing and a long-time fan of Manchester United and Toronto Blue Jays. His ‘love at first sight’ was also his love of a lifetime, with his main priority always being to keep “Doe” happy. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at Alvinston Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 249.
