Gary McNaughton

Gary Colin McNaughton of Newbury, Ontario, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 21st, 2024 at the age of 80. Gary will be missed by his wife, Susan McNaughton (nee Dodds), and their three children and spouses, Mike McNaughton (Tina Cryderman), Nicole Windsor (Jeff) and Monte McNaughton (Kate Bartz). He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Jordan and Sydney McNaughton and their mother Monica, Aleksandra Windsor and Annie McNaughton. Held in the hearts of his siblings, Diane Brewer (late Ross), Ruth Gatecliffe (Randy) and Danny McNaughton (Marie) Predeceased by Robbie McNaughton (Ruth Ann) and Ross McNaughton. Gary will be remembered for the many lives he touched in his various jobs and volunteer commitments. In his years, Gary was the proud owner of the Glencoe Creamery, the Newbury Superior Grocery Store, the Superior Ice Business in Newbury and Glencoe areas, laundromats in Glencoe, Dutton, and West Lorne, and most recently, his pride and joy, McNaughton’s Home Hardware Building Centre in Newbury, which he sold in 2016. Since selling McNaughton’s, Gary has been an active community member, taking up an instrumental role at the Ekcoe Central Public School Nutrition Program, where he loved providing healthy food for the children, and the Glencoe District Lions Club, where he actively raised money for community initiatives. Gary loved talking about the weather and current events. He enjoyed cooking and entertaining; every homemade recipe was always a success. Known as a very wise businessman, Gary provided financial counsel to many. Gary enjoyed travelling and puttering around the cottage. But mostly, he loved his family. The daily conversations will be greatly missed. A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Newbury on Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers,  memorial donations may be made to Ekcoe Central Public School (Nutrition Program) or Four Counties Health Services Foundation.
