In her 108th year, after a life well lived, Sarah Elizabeth (Bessie) MacPherson, passed peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Dearness Home, London. Left to mourn her passing are her only daughter Jane Schieman, her grandsons Robert and Donald (Sharon), her six great grandchildren Allison, Dena, Juliana (Brad), Nathan, Shawna and Krista great great grandson Cameron who brought her much joy, niece Jean Lassaline and her son Justin. Predeceased by her husband Cameron, parents William and Jenny McCallum, sister Lila Campbell (Clair) and brother Jack, son- in-law Martin Schieman, grandson Ted and granddaughter-in-law Karen. Bessie was raised and lived most of her life in Glencoe until moving to London to be near her daughter and then to Dearness. As a youth she attended Alma College where she made lifelong friends. After retirement, Bessie kept active volunteering with various organizations and her special interest, the Historical Society. Always a good bridge player, she played up until a year ago when her health began to decline. As a resident at Dearness, she was an active participant in events as long as she was able. A Memorial Service will take place at Dearness Home, 710 Southdale Road E., London on Saturday, June 7th at 1:30 p.m. followed by a reception for family and friends. A private family interment has already taken place at Oakland Cemetery, Glencoe.
