Peacefully at Babcock Community Care Centre, Wardsville on Sunday, November 15, 2020 in her 93rdyear, Bernice Louise McIntyre passed away. She was born May 3, 1928 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to Florence and Verne Dinning. Bernice was a devoted wife to Stewart McIntyre for 69 years and was a very dedicated mother to Sue (Charlie) Schnurr of Appin and Debi (Nigel) Wilson of Glencoe and predeceased Dan McIntyre (Karen). Bernice loved her role as “G” to Katy (Francois) Schnurr, Matt (Carrie) Schnurr, Ryan (Kevin) Wilson, Brett (Emma) Wilson, Kelly (Dan) Moniz and Nicole McIntyre. Special “GG” to Avery, Caden, Kayla, Brynn, Dylan, Jordyn and Emilie. She would have been so overjoyed with the arrival of the upcoming twins. Bernice started her modelling career in Detroit, Michigan and was headed to Chicago when she met Stewart while visiting her parents and grandparents in Kerwood, Ontario. This led to a change of plans, but she never looked back or regretted leaving her promising career. Bernice and Stewart were a wonderful example of what a successful and loving marriage looked like to all who knew them. Bernice was a kind, loving and thoughtful person; beautiful inside and out. An elegant lady with style and grace, she always lit up the room with her heartwarming smile. She would constantly help anyone, especially her children and grandchildren. She also hosted numerous tea and cookie parties around her backyard pool with the neighborhood children of Appin. Bernice will be greatly missed by all of us. A very special thank you to all the staff at Babcock Community Care Centre. We will be forever grateful to all of you for taking such wonderful care of Bernice over the years. A celebration of Bernice’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Babcock Resident’s Council or the Alzheimer Society.
