Wrapped in the love of family and friends, on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy, Alma Evelyn Van Alstyne (nee Collins) formerly of Glencoe, Ontario and long time summer resident of Turnbull’s Grove, Grand Bend, Ontario, found her peace. Born October 18, 1929 in Strathroy, Ontario to the late Edward Urquhart Collins (1958) and Alma Nevina (Neva) Lindsay Collins (1983). Sister of the late Bert Collins (2012) and his wife Freda of Sudbury and John (Jack) Collins and Isabel of Strathroy. Much loved mother of Diane Van Alstyne (Kevin Poole) and Lisa Van Alstyne, both of Glencoe. Predeceased by son Robert (Robbie) Van Alstyne (1969). Wife of the late Dr. William (Bill) Van Alstyne DDS (1975). Proud grandmother of Amelia Van Alstyne of Toronto/Glencoe, Kylie McLean (Paul Hawco) of Glencoe, Eva-Lyn McLean of London, Robbie McLean of Willingdon, Alberta, Josh Van Alstyne of Glencoe, Matthew Bryant of Strathroy, Mike Thompson (Terina Annis) of Oak Haven, NB and Lindsay McLean of St. Thomas. Special great-grandmother of Morgan, Jr., Lil, Carlie, Melissa, Zach, Camryn, Lauren and Nathan. Loved by many nieces and nephews. Cherished by in-laws Carol, Marnie and Dave. Special friend of Judy Crandon and family. Please gather at 2:15 pm at the Van Heck Funeral Home Glencoe, Wednesday, May 10 to join the procession to Strathroy Cemetery for the 3:00 pm graveside service.
